Mosaic Art Retreat with Lucy Jackson - Algarve, Portugal

Join the talented artist Lucy Jackson for a creative retreat combining mosaic, yoga, peaceful surroundings, fantastic food and friendly dogs. Seasoned mosaic artists and complete beginners are welcome - this artist-led mosaic retreat invites all levels of skill and creativity. You will contribute to a group mosaic and complete your own project (or two!) to take home. The group is kept small and intimate so Lucy can give individual attention, and this relaxed atmosphere makes it easy to forge new friendships across tables of art supplies and broken crockery. Many past participants remain firm friends and return for more mosaic and art creation.

Studio & activities

Our warm, light-filled Art Studio is cosy in winter and cool in summer, opening onto a garden of green grass, shady trees and sunshine. There’s plenty of time to step away from the workbench for peaceful nature walks, visits to the horses or a relaxing massage. Optional daily yoga and meditation for all levels is included, and you can look forward to our famously yummy farm-to-table food with excellent local wines.

Venue

More about the venue: The tranquil Quinta Carvalhas sits in the heart of the Ribatejo region on 42 hectares of forest, extensive gardens, plenty of horses and luxury accommodation in converted old barns. In colder months it’s the perfect place to unwind by the fire with hot chocolate, traditional Christmas treats, lots of books and friendly dogs. In summer, the pool and gardens beckon, with options for country walks, cycling and even swimming in the farm pond.

Lucy is a creative who loves exploring materials and processes. Trained in Fine Art painting at Winchester School of Art (UK), her practice includes mosaics, collage, painting, textiles and sculpture. After many years running art workshops, Lucy and her husband began a new life in Central Portugal, where the colours and nature feed her work. Her charismatic bird and fish wall mosaics are bold and tactile, blending the tradition of Portuguese tiles with recycled crockery.
