Who Is This For?

Everyone. Complete beginners to experienced practitioners. You don't need to know the sequence, be flexible, or have any prior experience. You just need to show up. Mannu will guide you from there.

What is Mysore Style?

"Mysore Style" is the backbone of the Ashtanga Yoga method. It's called Mysore style because this is how Sri K. Pattabhi Jois taught in the south Indian city of Mysore.

It's not a class where everyone follows the teacher — it's self-practice with individual guidance. You learn the sequence gradually, one posture at a time. The teacher works with you individually — adjusting, assisting, and adding new postures when you're ready. Everyone in the room is doing their own practice at their own pace. Beginners practise next to advanced students. It works.

Schedule

We practice 6 days a week (Sunday to Friday) at 7am.

We rest on Saturdays and on the days of full and new moon. Every Friday we have a theory/philosophy lecture after the class.

Please note that all beginner students to this practice must commit to at least one month of consecutive daily classes. (You are a beginner if you don’t know how to practice at least half Ashtanga Primary Series by heart.) If you have doubts about this please feel free to write to me.

Practitioners are expected to attend all  daily classes.

Your First Class

Please arrive on time, on an empty stomach, and freshly washed.

Introduce yourself — how long you have practised Mysore style, who is your main teacher, until what pose you practise, how long you will be practising with us, and any injuries.

WHAT TO BRING
Light clothing that allows free movement through the whole body.

A yoga mat and a cotton rug to place on top
A hand towel.

The full fee for your practice period.
